The 12th International Geostatistical Congress will be held at University of Azores, in the city center of Ponta Delgada, Portugal.

The University of the Azores was founded on January 9, 1976, as a result of the establishment of the Autonomous Region of the Azores and the policy of expansion of higher education in Portugal.

The University of the Azores has a tripolar structure, with its poles located in Ponta Delgada, Angra and Horta, the first being its headquarters, and is organized into 4 faculties and 2 Research Institutes.
